Questione meridionale e questione educativa nell'Italia degli anni Cinquanta: il contributo di Manlio-Rossi Doria e Rocco Scotellaro alla rivista "Nord e Sud"

This essay aims to reconstruct, through an analysis of articles published in the journal «Nord e Sud», the thinking of Manlio Rossi- Doria and Rocco Scotellaro on the Southern Question, which the two authors reinterpret as an educational process. The perspective from which the two authors approach the subject is that of the secular- democratic tradition, rigorous in its analysis and attentive to the concrete realities of the South, particularly rural life, without any concession to ideological constructs. What emerges is a historical interpretation of the ills of the South, but at the same time interesting prospects for development that combine classical Southern identity with the new demands of modernity.
