Nonlinear bending for thin wires is the main or one of the fundamental matters in several applications, especially when the plastic behaviour is widely involved. Such applications often require the reaching of large curvatures if compared to wire cross-section dimensions. In these cases a broad plasticization of the cross section is achieved early, even before curvature becomes large. In this paper a new analytical model is proposed, able to foresee the final curvature obtained after nonlinear bending wires with non-symmetric cross section, once load parameters are known. Both elastic springback after the unloading and material behavioural nonlinearities have been considered. From the engineering point of view, negligible errors are committed when applying the model to all those materials guaranteeing that wire cross sections remain plane after rotation (Bernoulli-Navier's hypothesis). The wire stress state can be evaluated by means of the model and enables the low cycle fatigue resistance verification.

Abstract
The wire stress state can be evaluated by means of the model and enables the low cycle fatigue resistance verification.File | Dimensione del file | Formato | |
