Although coproduction—the involvement of citizens and public sector professionals in the delivery of public services—is not a new issue in public administration, the concept is experiencing a resurgence of interest among scholars and practitioners. Since its formation in 2012, the International Institute of Administrative Sciences Study Group on the Coproduction of Public Services has sought to contribute to the study and practice of this issue. To that end, this special issue presents research conducted by members of the study group and presented at its second meeting, which took place in Bergamo, Italy, in 2014.
